Free Microphones for Voiceover Talent!

Yup, totally free brand new microphones.  No strings attached:

  • Want a Rode NT-1A microphone bundle?  The super quiet mic that works on a ton of different voices with a capsule based on the 103?  We got that.  Talent and coach J. Michael Collins is graciously providing one for free.
  • Want a Sennheiser 416?  The “L.A. mic”?  The little shotgun that’s used in nearly every promo you hear?  British voice talent James Clamp blew my mind the other day when he told us he is donating one for you guys.  He wont even be there to see your face when you lose your mind.

“But where am I going to put my new microphone Erik?  I live in my parent’s basement and the cement walls echo terribly!”

How about in a brand new Porta-Booth Plus portable recording studio courtesy of voice talent and inventor Harlan Hogan?  We’re giving that away too.

Sadly, the girl is sold separately

Seriously, these guys rock and are super generous.  Click their links above and hire them immediately. Oh yeah, we got books too.  The best voiceover books in the world signed by their authors:

Amazing, no?1

So what’s the catch?  No catch at all.  Just be there on Saturday, December 1st at The 5th Annual New York Voiceover Mixer, put your business card in the bag and wait for us to call your name at 7:00.

“A great time, a chance to network with hundreds of voiceover industry insiders from around the globe AND free stuff?”2

You’re welcome.

1. Yes.  The answer is yes.
2. Don’t forget about the food and drinks. Lots and lots of drinks.

The 2012 New York Voiceover Mixer

This is the big one folks.  Last year we had about 540 attendees from around the world and we expect around the same turnout this year.  There will be more of what has made these mixers so popular: networking with talent, agents, casting directors and others.  You can hand out (and receive) hundreds of business cards, make new connections, win some great prizes and get drunk.  What more could you want?  Every year we hear a ton of stories from people who have attended and found new business partners, a new coach, a new client or at least a bunch of new friends.

This year we figured, since we have you all here, we might as well do some good as well and so we are asking for a 10 dollar (cash please) admission fee and the proceeds will go to the Don LaFontaine Voiceover Lab.  This is a great cause and the foundation is incredibly helpful to our industry.

Please note that after a lot of soul searching, we have decided that this will be the last of the New York Mixer series.  This means that this is possibly your last chance to meet up with such a large group of other voiceover professionals and enjoy an event of this magnitude.  While we have teamed up with The Voxy Ladies this year to present this event, this is YOUR mixer.  Please come help us celebrate the resilience on New York City in the wake of the recent storm (no worries, the power is on and all will be back to normal for the event) and join us one last time in raising a glass to voiceover.

Be sure to check the OFFICIAL SITE for general information, RSVP info and guest / raffle list updates added daily.

Coming To The NYVO Mixer? See Rob Paulsen Live!

This just in: Emmy Award winning voice actor Rob Paulsen of Pinky and the Brain, Animaniacs and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle fame will be bringing his acclaimed seminar series to New York this December 3rd from 12:00 to 3:00 at the Sheraton Times Square in Manhattan.

The Sheraton is just blocks from Arena where the 2011 New York Voiceover Mixer will be held on the same day and we have allotted plenty of time for visitors to our fair city (or locals) to attend both events.

Rob will be sharing stories from his vast experience as a big shot voice guy, giving real time advice to those hoping to break into the business and guidance to those who have already drank the Kool-Aid.  The word on the street is that there might even be a song or two and Rob is always more than accommodating to those who want autographs so bring your Pinky swag and be the next eBay millionaire!

Oh yeah, and he’s only charging 100 bucks so you have no excuse not to go.

For more information visit Rob’s Site or his Facebook page.  There will be an official page for the NY appearance coming soon, check back here, at the Mixer site or at his links above after the weekend.

Please note this is open for everyone, not just those attending the Mixer although you would be crazy not to go to both.

Voiceover Talent to Converge On New York

New York, NY  October 17, 2011 –  Over 500 top voiceover actors, agents and coaches from around the world are set to attend the 2011 New York Voiceover Mixer this December third beginning at 6:00 pm at Arena Event Space near Times Square.  The industry networking event is being billed as the largest gathering of voiceover professionals in the world.

Past mixers have seen hundreds of talent and related industry people swapping business cards, forging new business relationships and posing for the occasional photo-op in between cocktails.  Attendees travel from all parts of the globe to see the faces behind some of the most successful and recognizable voices in animation, commercials, documentaries, movie trailers and promos.

Event organizer Erik Sheppard of Voice Talent Productions says, “This is the fourth year we are hosting the mixer and it keeps getting bigger and better every time.  We all look forward to getting out of our sound booths and offices and enjoying each other’s company.”  He adds, “We have incredible guests and giveaways this year and once again it is a free event thanks to the Legendary Marc Graue Voiceover Studio and our absolutely amazing and generous sponsors.”  Corporate sponsors include Edge Studio, Voicebank, VOICE 2012 and Sam Ash Music.  Says Sheppard, “We don’t offer any classes or long presentations so while there is a lot of shop talk and business dealings, it’s primarily an excuse to get dressed up, be seen and enjoy some drinks and conversation with our friends and colleagues.  Plus, you get to hear some amazing voices.”

Voice Talent Productions is a talent agency representing an elite roster of union and non-union voiceover talent from their New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Florida offices.  Those hoping to attend the event are instructed to visit http://voicetalentproductions.com for more information.  Press are invited to contact owner Erik Sheppard at erik@voicetalentproductions.com or 631.332.9550.
