Besides easily being the nicest person I have ever met in my life, VTP talent Tito Alvarez is well on his way to becoming a legend in our industry.  His impressive list of clients include Coca Cola, Verizon, Budweiser, Showtime, Microsoft, Master Card, American Airlines and Nascar and he has done the Spanish trailers for films such as Frida, Traffic and Dawn Of The Dead.  While primarily working as a Latino talent being bilingual has helped him virtually corner the Hispanic market in the United States and earned him representation with the nation’s top talent agencies.

A quick story:  A few months back I was talking to Tito on the phone and he was a bit torn because it seemed that he would have to leave his long term relationship with William Morris in Los Angeles because he was offered a contract with TGMD.  Seriously, I would give up body parts that I have become quite attached to if I could have dilemmas like that.1 Jeez.  Oh, he is also with Abrams in New York.  This guy is a rock star.

Feast your ears on this but be warned,  keep your ladies out of the room gentlemen or you will lose them.

If you are a Spanish male talent you might just want to go to dental school right about now because it’s over.2 Lo siento, amigos.

1. Perhaps that is an overstatement, but not by much.
2. Don’t worry Banderas, he has no interest in Nasonex.

For religious reasons I only speak English, although those who have heard me speak it say that my oratory is pretty much the pinnacle of the language as an art form.  While I know this to be true, I still can’t help but feel that I am missing out on something being limited to just one tongue.1 Besides the obvious coolness and perceived worldliness that goes along with being bilingual, if you are fluent enough you can double your market.  The insanely talented VTP talent Liz de Nesnera basically tripled hers.  Check this out: Liz speaks both English and French BUT she speaks Continental French as well as French Canadian so she has clients from just about everywhere falling all over themselves to get her in the booth for them.

So on any given day she can get a phone call from an American company looking to book an IVR talent, some Canuck might get off his moose and hire her for a beer commercial and later some cheese eating surrender monkey might email from France asking her to do a corporate spot for his white flag factory.  She makes a mint this way.  How cool is that?

“Un voiceover s’il vous plaît”

Jealous?  Of course you are, although Liz can kick an ass or two so she totally deserves everything she gets.  Check her out:

So, do you want a whole lot more work?  Just go out, learn an entirely new language and voilà!

VTP voice talent and tough guy with a heart of gold Leo Donato recently voiced the trailer for the new Wayans Brothers comedy “Dance Flick” due out in theaters this February:

Seriously, if this guy does not become the next big thing in movie promos, I will eat my hat.  Check out his demo below and tell me if I’m wrong.1

FYI, the last guy who gave Leo grief for being involved in a Wayans Brothers project no longer has what most would consider a “human” face.2

1. Hint: I’m not.
2. Smooth move Roeper.

Very sexy update: Since a few of you asked for it, I came out from the behind the bushes at Julie’s place and got the info for her photographer. Check them out here.

Holy freaking cow, these are probably the best headshots I have ever seen.  For crying out loud, I’m only human:

The debate has been raging for years over whether voice talent should use headshots or not.  The argument from one camp is that your voice should speak for itself and you should not allow seekers to come to a preconceived conclusion about your sound or delivery based on your appearance.  Others maintain that using a picture humanizes the talent and makes them seem more approachable.  Of course if you also do any kind of on-camera or print work, a headshot is absolutely necessary but what if you are just a VO?  What if you look strikingly different than you sound, as is the case with some talent in animation who bank on doing child voices but may be much older?  What if you are afraid that the photographer may not be able to Photoshop out your hunchback?

I know some of you may not be quite as genetically blessed as Julie or myself,1 but unless you have some gargoyle2 in your family tree, then I say go for it.  Go to Julie’s site and click on the gallery to see it done right and then decide if you think headshots are a good idea or not.  Also check out some of her fantastic demos below.  She might tap dance as well but I’m not sure.

Where do you stand on the headshot issue?  Let us know in the comments.

On a completely unrelated note, I read somewhere the other day that in some cultures if you blog more than two pictures of someone you are then considered legally married.3

1. I’ve got my Mom’s cheekbones.
2. Or Slovenian.
3. I’m just saying.

So, my old Narration Demo was getting a bit stale and in need of an upgrade so I went back to my boy Colin who produces some of the best demos ever and he hit it out of the park once again. Granted, he had my dulcet tones to work with, but it is still a great job. This guy has some ear1 and I highly recommend him. Check him out at Colin Campbell Voice.

2. Trust me, this wont hurt a bit.

Speaking of outstanding artists I have worked with, I would be remiss if I did not hip you cats to the lovely and talented Nikki Saco.  Not only is she a stellar voice actress, a web designer, a scholar and a sous-chef,1 she is also one of the driving forces behind SaVoa and we would never have gotten to the point we are now without her herculean efforts.2

Anyway, she busted her butt3 on my fabulous logo:

She also did a bang up job on the SaVoa logo:

Some other examples of her fine work:

The point is, if you are in the biz,4 you need branding and you could do a heck of a lot worse than going to Miss Nikki.  Click on her name above or bug her at nikki@addmultimedia.com to get your logo on.  I’ve seen that MS Paint looking thing you use now and, frankly, it’s embarrassing.

1. Alright, I made that last one up.
2. </gush>
3. It’s fine now.
4. This biz we call “show.”

When I’m not busy being an international playboy and making Victoria’s Secret models1 weak in the knees, I occasionally listen to some of the demos that come across my desk.  I am certainly glad I decided to hit play when Bruce sent me his stuff.  He has an absolutely unique this guy must have been drinking whiskey and smoking cigars for the past 40 years kind of sound.2 How does he do it?  He has been drinking whiskey and smoking cigars for the past 40 years.  It seems to be paying off for him.  Check out his demo below:

Just for good measure, check out this recent work he did for Davidoff:

You can read more about him and hear some more of his phenomenal voice at our main site here. He’s single too, so if any of you ladies3 are interested, just let me know and I’ll hook you up.

Impressed?  Of course you are.  Well then pick up your jaw and let him feel the love in the comments.

1. Their secret? Bulimia.
2. But in a good way.
3. Or gentlemen, he’s not picky.

In perhaps the most obvious casting decision since I was chosen as the new voice of Dora the Explorer1,  the extraordinary British voice actor Philip Banks has just voiced a series of television and radio spots for the Utah State Fair.  In Utah.  As a result of his most recent stateside success, Philip has converted to Mormonism and will be moving into a bungalow with Donny Osmond in Salt Lake City2.  Check out one of his coronary inducing clips by hitting play on the alluring black box below:

When not making millions for Voice Talent Productions, Mr. Banks enjoys cricket and learning how to properly pronounce “aluminum.”3

1.  Update:  This was recast at the last minute.
2.  I’m kidding, of course.  Philip remains a devout Satanist.
3.  I’m assuming.

Our very own lovely and talented September Day Leach just bagged a series of national spots for retail giant IKEA.  On top of her previous work for Subaru, The MTV Awards and approximately a million other huge clients, she is pretty much now a rock star.

While most industry insiders attribute her astounding success to her links with me3, I believe the following sneak peek4 will knock you on your respective keisters:

Rick PartyWe are pleased to announce the inclusion of the illustrious Rick Party to our fine roster of voice talent.  In addition to his years spent in radio and impressive client list, Rick feels that, “I have finally made it as a voice talent just by being invited to join an organization of such renown as Voice Talent Productions!”1 Plus, we hung out for a bit and I can vouch that he’s a helluva guy.  Check out his bio on our Talent page and listen to him below or on our Demos page.  I’ll wait.

Do you want to hire this guy?  Of course you do.  Give us a ring and we will make it happen for you.

Rick is also known as the driving force behind VoiceOverUniverse.com2 and in his spare time enjoys long walks on the beach and sounding amazing.  He has been keeping busy lately building a giant fireplace mantel to hold this enormous trophy he was recently awarded at the VOICE conference in Los Angeles. Jeez.

1. I may be paraphrasing.
2. Apparently this is some sort of web site.
